Poland – increasing furniture exports are endangering the national wood stock

  
  Plywood manufacturers representatives are estimated for this year a raw material shortage of 5 million cubic meters, meaning around 1/5 of the total demand.
The most difficult period will be the last quarter of the year when the suppliers of the State Forrest will run out of stock.
The paper and cellulose manufacturers are in the fortunate situation because they concluded contract for the whole year (meaning fix quantities and prices).
The wood necessary for this industry remained constant for the last few years; not the same thing can be said about the other wood consuming sectors; they have registered a booming increase from year to year.
A representative of the State Forrest said that due to the fact that they will not be able to supply these sectors, they will be forced to import the woods; this is have as result an increase of the final price.
